Inability

Dear bloggie,

They say sometimes we can never really appreciate what we have until we lose em...

I realized the irony falling victim to this pitfall... I never thought that having not used "it" for such a long time, I have perhaps lost my ability to use it properly anymore.

When did it started I ponder? Is this something that I born with or did I do this to myself?

Words can bring me down

Dear bloggie,

Beautiful - Elvis Costello

Every day is so wonderful
And suddenly, I saw debris
Now and then, I get insecure
From all the pain, I'm so ashamed

I am beautiful no matter what they say
Words can't bring me down
I am beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring me down
So don't you bring me down today

To all your friends, you're delirious
So consumed in all your doom
Trying hard to fill the emptiness
The piece is gone left the puzzle undone
That's the way it is

You are beautiful no matter what they say
Words can't bring you down
You are beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring you down
Don't you bring me down today...

No matter what we do
(no matter what we do)
No matter what they say
(no matter what they say)
When the sun is shining through
Then the clouds won't stay

And everywhere we go
(everywhere we go)
The sun won't always shine
(sun won't always shine)
But tomorrow will find a way
All the other times

'cause we are beautiful no matter what they say
Yes, words won't bring us down, oh no
We are beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring us down
Don't you bring me down today

Don't you bring me down today
Don't you bring me down today

What would u choose?

Dear bloggie,

If u have to choose between:

A. Being stupid but happy
B. Being highly intelligent but miserable

What would one choose? This is the main plot for a episode in House MD, where the patient is a very intelligent man but opted to take drugs to suppress his intelligent so he can live a normal happy live with his less intelligent wife.

4 Noble Truth

Dear bloggie,

1. THE EXISTENCE OF IMPERMANENCE, "Dukkha"

Nothing lasts forever. When you understand this it makes it easier to not be so attached to what you're experiencing. So when you're experiencing something you think is bad, you can relax in the knowledge that nothing bad lasts forever. Similarly, when you're experiencing happiness you can also realize that nothing good lasts forever. Why would you want to do that? Because it helps you to be more aware of how you're reacting to your experiences at all times.

2. THE ARISING OF SUFFERING BECAUSE OF CRAVING, "Samudaya"

Craving sensory stimulation, craving existence, and craving non-existence give rise to the "continuity of being" (the tendency to confuse reality with your perception of reality), and with it its attendant suffering. Say you want something and you don't get it--you'd get sad or frustrated. But say you want something and you do get it. Eventually you'll get bored with it and you'll start wanting something else. And so you start all over again. And that's a bummer.

3. THE CESSATION OF SUFFERING, "Nirodha"

You can end eternal suffering by ending the craving that leads to the continuation of suffering. Remember that suffering is caused by endlessly wanting what you can't have. So if you can stop this endless wanting, you won't suffer anymore. That's not to say that you won't ever feel pained or sad (or happy or ecstatic) ever again. It's just that it won't be part of an endless cycle of wanting--not getting--being sad--wanting again.

4. THE MIDDLE WAY, or THE NOBLE EIGHTFOLD PATH, "Magga"

So how do you end eternal craving? Just live by the ideals of the Noble Eightfold Path. The Path is grounded in a program of meditation. It delineates a plan of self-discipline regarding ethical conduct, mental discipline, and wisdom. The Path avoids two extremes--the pursuit of complete and ultimate sensory pleasure, or the pursuit of utter self-denial.

Emo time...

Dear bloggie,

Save The Best For Last - Vanessa Williams

Sometimes the snow comes down in June
Sometimes the sun goes 'round the moon
I see the passion in your eyes
Sometimes it's all a big surprise
'Cause there was a time when all I did was wish
You'd tell me this was love
It's not the way I hoped or how I planned
But somehow it's enough

And now we're standing face to face
Isn't this world a crazy place
Just when I thought our chance had passed
You go and save the best for last

All of the nights you came to me
When some silly girl had set you free
You wondered how you'd make it through
I wondered what was wrong with you

'Cause how could you give your love to someone else
And share your dreams with me
Sometimes the very thing you're looking for
Is the one thing you can't see

And now we're standing face to face
Isn't this world a crazy place
Just when I thought our chance had passed
You go and save the best for last

Sometimes the very thing you're looking for
Is the one thing you can't see

Sometimes the snow comes down in June
Sometimes the sun goes 'round the moon
Just when I thought our chance had passed
You go and save the best for last

You went and saved the best for last

Daybreakers

Dear bloggie,

Went to watch Daybreakers with MFR awhile ago so since I haven't watch any movie at the cinema for quite a long time, I decided to blog about it. Well, there's also the I wanted to write something into this stupid blog and I had no topic to blog about factor too.

Anyway, back to Daybreakers... Story in short, vampire overthrown the human civilization and human have been degenerated into a cattles (well sort of). Staring the star of "Before Sunset", Ethan Hawke... Ethan however this time around isn't playing the role of a f*cked up romantic perverted writer that meet a French babe. Ethan plays Edward, an creature of the dark (ie: Vampire) that works (Yea, even Vampires have to work) as a blood researcher. The whole vampire community is on the brink of collapse as human is on the verge of extinction, hence no more human blood. No more human blood = No more food for vampires. Edward has been trying to develop as artificial human blood to solve the crisis but haven't been able to found one that doesn't blow a vampire up. To deepen the plot, Edward actually pity the human and detest being a vampire. So by chance, Edward got called up by Morpheus to be told he is the chosen one and can fulfill the prophecy mixed up with a gang of human resistance. Seem there is a human that actually turned from a vampire and managed somehow to revert back into a human. The humans want Edward to find the reason behind this. Hence a begins a race between the 2 sides, the vampire to capture the humans and the humans to find the cure for vampirism.

The movie plot has quite a lot of ironic touch to it. Take for instance the concept of being a vampire that is immortal but having to still slave to the man vampire. Also the struggle between both side, vampire and human looked more like a genocide in my book. Was the central issue really about vampire and human? I personally think it's a issue between those on top that want to remain in power rather than a war between 2 kinds of species. The scene near the end is in my opinion a testament that the monster were never the vampires, but rather the greedy, manipulative, sob inside of all of us... Also on the movie raises a quite interesting topic on immortality. I read a almost similar essay on "What if we all were immortals" quite some time back (15+ years ago), which instead of giving a b*tching story on the stupid f*ckin wonderful thing we human can do with no limit to out lifespan, tackles the problem of in balance caused by this. The world resources today alone is already running in the -vef (consume more than replenish). Imagine if we are all immortals, can't die. How much faster would the resources run out? What happens when the resources can't support us any longer? Imagine a food ration on our food. And imagine the food getting less and less everyday as newborns come into this world coupled with no deaths due to immortality. The end? I imagine we would have a riot in our hands, humans turning against human to survive...

Hope

Dear bloggie,

People often say I'm negative or pessimistic... Maybe I am, but frankly speaking, I don't really think I'm a negative person by nature. It's just I been burnt too often by hope. Hope can really make one feel f*ckin good but when the bubble burst... It's like u free falling from a VERY VERY high place to the rock solid concrete earth. Make no mistake, even if one have experience such disappointment time after time after time, the anguish won't be any softer...

Meaning of life

Dear bloggie,

"What is the meaning of life?"

According to Dalai Lama...

"The meaning of life resides in joy and the feelings of harmony connected to happiness; without happiness, life loses meaning. Happiness is at the heart of our lives and our demand for a meaning."

And I thought the mondo garbage by the Matrix Architect on "anomaly" was long winding and confusing...

Bakau@Larian Bandar Diraja 2010

Dear bloggie,

Set a personal best time of 54 mins 30 secs for 10K... Need to confirm izt the distance really 10K or not...

Yea, seems like the distance not really 10K but onli 8.9K. Does feel abit too short. A +vef run for me. Started above average pace, cut alot of peoples here. My stamina ran out at the 29 minute mark, when I decided to walk to recover for 5 minutes during the steep uphill climb to Dewan Hamzah. Didn't really recover much hence I changed from running even pace into run & walk crawl at 5:1 ratio.

One dude I find super annoying is one guy that been going like a yoyo since I seen him in the mid point mark (5K me think). Zoomed pass me, run abit further till stamina depleted, walk, I slowly cut the distance, overtake him, he counter go into turbo mode again, rinse & repeat... F*ckin sienz see him do this every time I overtake him. Lucky I manage to shake him at the downhill after Dewan Hamzah to Little India.

The 3rd quarter of the race, I didn't really cut people (from same category) nor let people cut, mostly is just the same bunch of faces fighting to overtake or defend their position. I did overtake alot of mui mui chai from category F (7K I think), LOL...

Running in the middle of the streets alongside the old yet colorful buildings in Little India, the feel is simply awesome. And running across the old bridge alongside so many young urns, I find it hard to find the proper words to describe my feelings at that moment, maybe "nostalgia". I wanted to finish strong so I step into above average speed when crossing the double decker bridge to the finish line. It was here, I really have to push despite the fatigue in my body and legs. My watch was telling me, I had 9 more minutes to dash to the finish line before my 1 hour goal expires. Having put so much effort and sweat into the run, the feeling of "Not wanting to regret not giving 100%" kicked in and I simply managed to endure the run across the bridge. It was here (Around 200m from finish line), another guy from my category suddenly break into a mad dash to the finish line. Having always wanted to try a dash to the finish line too, I tried matching his dash too. I tell u, the feeling of finishing a race strong with a dash is simply keng (Finish behind him)...

Anyway complains, the lack of goodie bag and medal. A pretty lousy danish bread, fruit, water & certificate as goodies at the end (Also got 100 plus and Milo). Medal only for those whom finish top 30... Zzz... Quite understandable since fee is RM 0. Also the late start of the race. Sign in time was 5.00-6.30am but the race started only at 8.00am when the Sultan arrived.

Clocking a nice time in a race is great, but that just a bonus compared to the feel of being able to run across my f*ckin, lousy, shitty, rundown, slums, beloved hometown.

Kamen Rider Bakau

Dear bloggie,

Went to collect my bib and tshirt just now. Seems like not enuff bibs, alot of late entries from schools... The MSN staff scratching their head on how to resolve the issue. When I arrived, they said no more bibs either I can wait 30 minutes or come back tomolo. I decided to wait, lucky me I waited only 5 minutes, the bibs arrived.

Anyway, not so lucky since tshirt size "L" outta stock... Wanted to take XL but the guy told me their XL qualifies for XXL and advice me to take M instead. Abit too tight on the neck and arms but not too bad... A312 is my bib number... Seem my decision to grab the bib and tshirt earlier is the correct one. I think tomolo will have a mess at the MSN office due to lack of bibs and maybe tshirts as well

Here is me doing my Kamen Rider Bakau henshin pose with my new tshirt...

Sign up for Klang riverside run

Dear bloggie,

Old de, travel for more than 1-2 hours in car also come home fatigue... Drove the whole way to Shah Alam to register for Klang Karnival Run this Saturday. Damn hard to find the MSN Selangor Sport Office! The damn office is actually located in Carlton Holidays Hotel & Suite, next to Tesco and Aquatik Center.

I only found out about this run last week and having missed the Bareno registration dateline, I was teetering between skipping another run for my worn out ankle to heal but since the registration fee is RM 0 with a free tshirt and held at Klang riverside, how can I skip this run and claim to be Pasan lang.

My Goal: 1hour 20 minutes (8 minute per km pace). Hopefully enough since I taken almost 3 months+ off running already... Need to drive up to pickup my bib and tshirt again this Thur... Zzz...

Mocha Cappuccino Doping

Dear bloggie,

I been doping for more than 1/2 year already. Last week, my supply of steroids ran out hence I needed to fork out more moolah to replenish my stock. Bought this baby for RM 211 at Egonutritions at Subang Parade.

Yea, hard to believe... even drugs now days come in different types of flavors. I originally wanted to get myself Vanilla Ice Cream flavor one but no more stock so ended up going for Mocha Cappuccino instead. New tube, taller but slimmer. Also lesser too (Old one is 77 servings, now only 71 servings)... Tiu, everything also shrinking now days... The sales guy also gave me a small pack of weight gain sample to try out.

Anyway, just took a shot of my new steroids just now. Hmm... Indeed if you serve a cup of this with some whip cream and blended ice, it can probably come off as a pretty good knock off version of Starbucks Mocha Cappuccino (without the calories bomb and with a nice amount of protein). Not bad, not bad at all...

Close your lights for an hour, Save the world

Dear bloggie,

When I logged into my Facebook account today, I almost fainted due to shock as there was a event invitation... I click the link to see what kinda event invitation izt and tis pops up...

"Earth Hour 2010 Malaysia"

I dunno whether or not I should shake my head in disbelief or kowtow in respect. Last year, alot of people join in this event. For one hour, they close out everything and go cold turkey. Last year, MFR declare the event as a fad. My response to him was "Every journey begins with a step". This year, I eat my own words. This is why I eat my words:

First of all, after all those people go cold turkey for 1 hour what is the first thing they do when the 1 hour is up? They turned on everything back. When is the next time they started saving electric? 1 year later on the next year (this year) Earth Hour event. Anything changed except our earth maybe gain one extra hour to live?

What disgust me more is those remarks in the Earth Hour Event. Create the awareness! Yea rite... Create the awareness that there is a event where a bunch of sohai close their hour electric and feel good thinking they saved earth this way. Congrats, Kudos, Holy shit, Godlike, F*ckin rapid, We saved 1 / 24 / 365 = 0.01145525% of energy one long year. I quote what my father said about this Earth Hour event last year, "A bunch of sohai see other people close light, so they kah cheng chiueh (@$$ itchy) also close light".

Those who participate in this event probably goreng me saying "It's a good publicity stunt event that make people aware of Earth energy consumption problem". My counter argument is tis:

So what if more people are aware of Earth energy consumption problem? There's all sorts of problems (poverty, war, injustice, pollution, etc...) that alot of us are aware of but we merely continued with our everyday ignorant f*ckin lifestyle... Every journey has to begin with a step... But what is the use of a journey that is only a one step journey? After the end of the 1 hour Earth Hour 2009, has there been any serious follow up effort to reduce energy consumption? How many u think will answer yes?

More ironic are those that I heard at the last event close the home electric but went out to hang at shopping malls. Play smart not hard... The best analogy I can think of is a drug addict claiming trying to go clean by not taking drugs at his home but instead go take drugs at a night club. But frankly speaking what would going cold turkey suppose to achieve anyway? We experience discomfort due to no light, no fan, no etc but what does that discomfort have to do with conserving energy? All we learn is that no power, susah leh. Will that promote us to start conserving energy or rather do the exact opposite instead?

So really, Earth Hour 2010 really isn't a serious effort to save earth but just a social fun event that just happens to save earth energy by 0.01% a year.

Personally, I think if one is really serious about saving Earth, one is better of trying to curb one bad energy consumption habit (ie: Maybe close all bedroom lights when go to sleep or etc) a year instead of joining this mambo jumbo festival.
